Artist Content Monetization Easy With Apricado

by James M. Helms on July 17, 2008

Distributing  content isn’t an easy process for artists, even on the internet… well, that was true until today. Apricado.com just opened a private beta offering for a service that streamlines artist ability to monetize their unique content. Typically the process of selling music isn’t easy, with Apricado’s service the process is simple. As Apricado mentions, artist submit an “email address, upload a song and they are ready to sell”.

Selling music isn’t easy but through embedable widgets circulating viral content is faster than traditional old media distribution models. Uploading a song and embedding a widget can take just minutes.

According to the Apricado Press Release artists “receive an unheard of 80% of their sales” As TechCrunch pointed out “Each song sold will be distributed without DRM”, Digital Rights Management (DRM) can restrict the free use and transfer of the content. Artists maintain the rights to their content which gives them maximum flexibilty to choose how they distribute their product.

Apricado is a new site and the scaleability of the service is yet to be seen. They have limited room for their Beta testing, and are planning a public release late this summer. They are currently seeking additional venture capital to aid them in their online growth.

In todays new media world the rules are changing. Content creators are in a position of power, large old media powerhouses are loosing the ability to fully monetize and control the media distribution around the world. Apricado is a tool that content creators can use to monetize their unique creations and reap the rewards of their labor.
