When it comes to conference calls coordinating the details can be a headache. There are a variety of solutions available, some of them work really good. Solutions for scheduling conference calls online can be overkill or cost prohibitive, especially if you don’t use conferencing on a regular basis. With Rondee you get a free conference call number plus a lot more.
After signing up for a free account you can start scheduling right away. To start a Rondee you simply select the date and time and compile an email list and message to be sent out to the everyone invited. You have a few options to select if you want the free extended service. You can create recurring conferences, allow users to invite others, and record the audio of the meeting. Simply press send and the invitations are distributed to the people you are inviting.
After sending the invite you have access to a dashboard that allows you to see who has signed up to attend.
You can also see if people have declined to attend the conference call. The users who have chosen to attend the conference are given the conference number and a unique ID to locate the right conference. It’s just that simple.
The attendees of the conference call are supplied a link to play back the conference call if need be. The audio file is a GSM file and can be listened to using Apple’s Quicktime. Podcasters can use the audio feature to record and download podcasts using their telephone, this eliminates the need to use a microphone for phone interviews.
The final feature that I think is really useful is the “listen only” link that the conference call creator is given. If live, additional users can access the conference live and listen to conversation. This is a great feature and has a lot of uses for live broadcasting and syndication to countless users.
Rondee mentioned further expansion of the web based service in the future including desktop sharing service that would place them in a position to gain share from gotomeeting. Other expansion of services include additional revenue generating features for the small company. So far this includes implementing a toll free number (< 5 cents per minute) and adding fee based transcription services. They may be rolling out some advertisements in the near future. They will not have in phone call ads and they don’t currently have plans to add advertising in their emails either.
There is no download required, no signup demanded (other than the creator of the conference) , and the conference call number is free less the cost of the call of course. Even with the cost of long distance calls (to California) its hard to deny the value that that this great new web based tool brings to its users. What do you think about the service? Do you think you will use the service in the future?
