There are a variety of ways to monitor online reputation. RSS enables the informed user to create and set up a wide variety of ways to monitor what is being said around the internet. You can receive alerts from a variety of online tools that I previously talked about on this blog. The tools that I have talked about are just the beginning. One new tool that you can add to your reputation management toolbox is StartPR, a service currently in private beta. (I have a few invites, email me if you want one).
What is Online Reputation Management (ORM)?
It’s a pretty descriptive phrase but here is a brief overview. People say things about you and your company often. Tracking and responding appropriately is necessary if you want to protect you online reputation. You create ways to monitor what is being said through a variety of tools. When you come across a mention of your name or brand, you react. You can listen and learn from the conversation that takes place, you can even participate. If the mention of your brand is negative you can take appropriate steps to bury or redirect the conversation. This, is a general overview of online reputation management.
How Does StartPR Help With ORM?
StartPR offers a user friendly interface allowing you to keep up to date with key terms of interest to you. StartPR monitors blogs across several blog search engines such as Google, Technorati, IceRocket, BlogPulse, and Techmeme. They most recently added Twitter to their search results too. You can add up to 25 search topics for free. You also have the option of adding more than 25 topics and additional users on the same account for a fee which is to be determined.
What Other Things Do You Need to Know About ORM?
It’s a constantly expanding topic, there is alot of information and a variety of skill required to deal adequately with your online reputation. You can learn these skills if you have the time, you can hire an individual with the skills, or you can outsource your ORM needs to a competent Internet Marketing Agency. Through the tools available on the internet today you have the ability to tap into a large amount of information. If leveraged correctly you can stay up to date with the information you need to be successful.
