Why Rescue Time?
Life is pretty cool in the information age isn’t it? Think about it, almost instant access to good, bad, and okay information. Want to know how to do something? Just search for it, read about it, watch a couple video’s, read some opinion pieces, almost instantaneous access to information. As a matter of fact there is so much information that you may find yourself being un-productive with your time. That is where Rescue time comes in. Using Rescue time you can access data about where time is spent on the internet by grouping sites categorically.
Where do you find yourself spending most of your time? Do you spend a large portion of your day monitoring your inbox? Read news and blogs too much? Gathering data about your online activities is the first step in seeing the time spent on unproductive tasks.By consciously making an effort to dedicate more time on tasks that are more beneficial you can increase your productivity. This coupled with setting goals and receiving real time alerts via RSS, email, or SMS will allow you to constantly monitor when you or your team are off track.
Monitoring Personal & Team Productivity
Rescue time offers team productivity and statistics. Individuals can compare how productive and efficient they are as compared to the entire team (on average or entirely transparent). Likewise you can access detailed team data and see who is active and the times of day they are productive. The analytics for team members also generates a productivity and efficiency score that can be used as a quick guide to see who may need to pick up some slack.
Creating Goals and Setting Up Alerts
Rescue time allows you to create goals and setup alerts. Creating goals are beneficial if you are wanting to limit the time spent during the day on a particular category of site or program. You can set up alerts to tell you when goals are not being met. By setting up goals you can challenge yourself and your team to steadily work towards being more productive.
Levels of Service Offered
Rescue time can be installed and monitor individuals and teams. The individual service is free, the team level service can be free but you can extend the data for a fee. The fee for team level service with advanced data analysis is currently under $10/user/month. The two levels of service offer flexibility and the service can certainly pay for itself if you extend the team level service.
