Send and Receive Updates Across Several Network Sites at Once

by James M. Helms on September 9, 2008

There are many new online tools that emerge everyday. As a matter of fact there are so many tools that leveraging them becomes more challenging. In order to utilize more tools in the same time frame available it may be necessary to use additional tools to manage several networks at a time. As social networks and a variety of social platforms (I like to call them all tools) appear, grow, and evolve some of you may find that it is necessary to consolidate, reduce, or leverage third party tools to manage your expanding social networks.

Here’s The Big Picture

There are 24 hours in a day. If you use 18 of them interacting with your social network then you only have time for 6 hours of sleep and zero for eating and working. But if you use third party tools to manage several networks you are able to manage more networks in less time. In fact if you leverage third party tools you may have time for eating and working. Two tools (of many) that I would recommend checking follow below.

Ping.fm Syndicates Your Content

Ping.fm recently moved to public beta, which means you can sign up for your free account without an invitation code…right now! You can post to a variety of microblogging, instant messaging, and social networks by sending one message that syndicates across all of your accounts. Ping.fm has a variety of sites that it supports with additional site support emerging all the time.

Minggl Helps You Manage Your Networks

Minggl is incorporated into your Firefox browser as an Add-on. Using Minggl you are able to manage your social networks in a variety of ways. You can update your statuses across a few major social networks and consolidate friend lists. You are also able to receive updates on your friends activities and manage the updates from a single location (your search browser). You can take many of your social networks with you around the web while you search and work on other activities at the same time.

Conversely you can monitor the status updates of your competitors…keep your friends close and your [competitors] closer… cmon now, you know you try to.

Being able to send and receive information (syndicate your content) across a variety of platforms at once is really valuable. It’s kind of like being in many places at once and that increases your ability to access more tools in less time. Leveraging tools like Minggl.com and Ping.fm is a great way to gain hours in your day. There are many more tools that allow you to syndicate your content. Feel free to post links to them in the comments below.
